Q: Draining duct that goes from the eye to the mouth?

I've got a chondro who has "pop eye" ... like pop eye in fish, but a snake.

Apparently, there's a duct that flushes through the roof of the mouth. Apparently, it's not working.

Wish I had pictures, will tomorrow or sunday ... its a snake that had an RI, eye swelled up, and then nose swelled up. His head is all deformed after his nostril operation, would like to try to flush it myself, but don't know how.

*sigh*
Stupid Chondros

There's a ton of stuff going on there so lemme see if I got this straight.  Chondro got an RI got a nasal operation and it's head is all deformed because its nasolacrimal ducts can't drain into the vomeronasal organ to go into the mouth?

Also is it actually creating pressure like pop eye or did it develop like a hypopyon where the eye is clouding up?

Yeah, it's pressure... the "operation" was tweezers and a syringe to flush it out.

Ok, so it's a bilateral exophthalmos caused by pressure from the ri or pressure from when you tried to flush it initially?  The obvious simple answer is go to the vet they put the snake under and they drain the ducts I could go into great detail on why but i'll spare the terribly boring details of reptile anatomy and how the nasal passages of snakes differ. Basically if you try to flush the duct again you could blow the eyeballs out of the socket since the blockage could be scar tissue which won't move anyways.  A somewhat interesting trick though if fluid is is built up to avoid actually flushing close the snakes mouth like you're going to do cpr put your mouth around it's snout and very gently suck if you suck too hard you're going to collapse a lung but  the right amount of suction you'll actually suck the fluid out it's kinda gross but it works.

That may or may not answer your question if it doesn't I'll wait til you post the pictures.
