There are like a million spiders that fall under the catagory of "wolf spider" pretty much any small-medium sized brown spider is a wolf spider for most people..... a REALLY good picture and description would help a lot.... those dimensions seem huge even for most spiders in general... The largest "wolf spiders" that come to mind are the huntsman spiders.... very similar looking to the stereotype wold spider and carries babies on it's back. Also... all spiders are venomous..... but most of them are not so bad that they will actually cause you much harm. "wolf spiders" to my knowledge are not deadly... with the exception of brown recluses... which a lot of people throw into that category cause it's a small brown spider....

4-6 inches! thats like a tennis ball or a coaster. Sounds more like a Tarantula species. Wolf spiders aren't know to be that epic around where I am.  Perhaps this chart will help...

There are spiders here in the midwest I've heard people refer to as "wolf spiders".  I'm sure there are multiple species.  I'm no expert on spiders......they give me the willies.  But I can say.....lots of free "wolf spiders" here at my house.  They're everywhere.

glad you got it workin', pops.

wolf spider, eh?
not something I would want to keep as a pet..
there was a brown recluse in my brother's shoe about 6 years ago.. it bit his hand when he reached down to pick up the shoe... it wasn't lookin' so great for his hand, but everything healed up nicely after a trip to the ER.
