Q: Captive Breeding Viper Boas

Out of curiosity, has anyone heard of viper boas ever being successfully bred in captivity? They're such a beautiful species, it's a shame they're mostly (all?) wc/ch.

Interesting I actually saw a couple little babies at the show today that I believe where captive bred

There is someone in my area who has bred them, since I saw their listing on Craigslist. But I don't have their information.

I was interested in doing a project with them (still am, actually...). There have been many succesful Captive Breeding projects with them. Babies born, ate, all that. No one seems to be able to keep the babies alive for more than a few months, though. I think I may still give it a try in the future though.

I dunno if he does them any more but I know there was another guy doing an incredible strain of reds also. Keep checking on Kingsnake and I'm sure his ads will pop up eventually.

ya you can check with breeders on kingsnake. ive seen alot of captive bred viper boas on kingsnake. there are alot of new blood imports coming in tho, like high reds and high oranges so you gotta pick which ones you like, if you like normals there are plenty of captive bred ones on kingsnake for cheap.

I just bought a Viper Boa from a show today. It is wild caught, but seems very healthy and has a good temperament. I would like to eventually try to breed them, I have a female now, So i am on the hunt for a male. I am unsure of how old mine is, but she is very plump! Still a baby, but a good body size, about 300grams. I was talking to someone about captive breeding them and I have heard the same... it is possible, but it is hard to keep the babies alive. Maybe one day someone will unlock the secret to breeding these awesome animals!
