We recently had a question about this, and I think the popular consensus was to stay calm, and methodically check everywhere near your cage, and spread out. It can take a great deal of time and effort to find the snake, and even then, they generally make an appearance as soon as you've given up :) Here were the ideas from the last post http://www.iherp.com/Answers/ReptileProblem.aspx?Id=2943

Also...I am not entirely sure how healthy this is for the snake but i remember a while back one of the zoos did this to catch an escaped king cobra...
tie a mouse to something stationary (with string that can pass through the snakes system withou harm id assume) and when the snake comes out and eats it it will be get stuck on the string. This could potentially injure and stress the snake though, again i am not entirely sure how safe or healthy it is. just a suggestion.

There are different things to try, using a heat source or food to lure it out of hiding. But I've found it's usually a matter of time and luck.
We had a king snake escape somehow that finally showed up two months later when found lying under recycyling tub in kitchen closet.
This year a corn baby escape from rack tub and showed up two months later on top of python cage. Both snakes where found in different rooms from where they escaped and were fine and still in collection. Both times I'd finally though they had disappeared for good somehow.
Good luck, Lash

Painter's tape along the walls, sticky side up. If it doesn't remove easily, simply dip the snake in some vegetable oil and it will come right off. A trap made with a 2 liter bottle. Cut the top portion off so it looks like a funnel. Make the hole just large enough for the snake to go into. If the opening where the lid screws on is large enough, leave that. Otherwise, you'll have to cut the screw on portion until the funnel has an opening large enough. Bait with an appropriately sized frozen/thawed mouse. Place in a dark warm place and leave overnight. If the snake takes the bait, it will usually be too large to fit back out the opening, and often they will just stay in the spot anyway if it's dark. I found one of my missing snakes this evening in one of the laying boxes I put away for the season. I went to move it and he leaped out and bit me on the thumb. I had been feeding other snakes in the room and he thought I was bringing him a snack! I found a few in the feeding boxes that were put away in the closet, in the space between the bottom of one cage and the top of another (stacked wooden cages) and in my shipping supplies. They can fit anywhere! My door in the snake room is sealed with a strip on the bottom so that no snakes can escape if they get out in the room. Helps save me the worry of them get out in the house.
