Pueblan Milk Snake Needs A Xanax!

This website has to be one of the MOST informative I have seen in a while. I am blown away by how many people respond and with such positive answers to all questions and comments. Anyway, my husband (I won't claim her) has a pueblan milk snake that is in need of a" chill pill." I have tried various substraits so that she may not easily hide, thinking if she can see us more often, she's less likely to be fidgety. This has proven to not be the answer. I have tried to tame her but she without a doubt will spray me with different bodily fluids. She used to bite so I am grateful that isn't an issue but my poor husband would like to handle his snake someday. Any idea if she will ever relax?

it just takes a little time and i all depends on how often you handle it i allso own a milk snake so i know what your talking about i handle mine atleast a half hour a day and its calming down abit so you might have to stand getting musked but with time your snake should calm down and all that getting pooped on will be worth it so i wish you luck with training you snake =)

Im assuming you have a baby or a juvenile? Normally they calm down after time AND proper handling on a regular basis. It doesnt have to be every day, just on some kind of regular frequency. While you have the snake out, if it musks or bites, do not put it away. Wait until it relaxes to place it back in its cage. Its going to take some time for the snake to figure out that you arent a predator, so give it time. Best of luck to you.

As with what the other said, it just takes time and constant but gentle handling, milk snakes and pueblans especially are usually flighty as youngins but calm down eventually. Also giving her less places to hide might stress her out some more, you should give her at least one hide so she can feel safe and secure somewhere. best wishes :)
