i need a good yet cheap camera.

good quality

and good at close ups.

any suggestions??

Canon AS1000i is very decent for the price. it's also a 10 megapixel. i picked one up for around $115.00

I use a Sony Cybershot for my photos. You can see what I do with it by looking at my last blog. Can pick one up on Amazon for about 100.00. It has different modes, macro, and video. I've had mine a couple years and never a problem. One suggestion though, is to invest in rechargable batteries. It will save you in the long run!

Myself I have both the canon and a Sony cybershot I bought the canon from Future Shop around $120 and my Sony from Visions for $115 for me I like the sony for it's features like macro, auto exposure, and it's qwuality check out come of my pictures most are the canon my mother has the sony for right now. I hope that helps

I just bought an Olympus Stylus 1050 SW -- 10mp, shockproof, waterproof, and freezeproof. It's as good for outdoor herping adventures as it is for it's macro and supermacro close-up shots, and I have nothing bad to say so far. Picked it up on buy.com for under $150. Good luck!

Too a point, of course... but still! It'd be perfect in the event that you dropped it from a great height into a deep-freezer after emerging from the swimming pool... You know, like if you came in to photo-inventory your feeder rodents... or something...

Look on eBay for a Canon EOS 20D
I love mine, paid $1500 for it, you can get one used for a couple hundred I think.

I used in most of my pics on this site a Kodak Easy Share Z812IS with 8mp, 12x optical zoom it was a very great camera...it was $250.00 at Best Buy. Now they have a newer version I saw at Walmart for 379.00 dollars it's twice as good. It is 12.5mp and 24x optical zoom..with many different modes on it. I'm sure it would be a great camera as well. I had to give mine up though and pawn it so I could get my snake Diamond to the vet in April...I miss it so much. Good luck in finding a great camera.

Canon Xs is reasonable in price. Imo its the best dslr for your money. Slr's are so versitle and well worth the money. The nikon is another classic.
