I have my iguana in a wood and wire cage outside, and winter is coming too soon. What can I do to heat the cage? Would I be able to keep him outside all winter?

I personally wouldn't keep it outside at all rather than a few hours a day to soak up some natural sunlight. In an outside cage they really don't have enough room to thermoregulate properly, unless you have a massive enclosure with shaded areas. I do know someone that keeps them outside,I'm in lower Alabama so the climate doesn't differ much from yours, in a green house style enclosure with a sort of "screen porch" in sunlight and they have 2 seperate basking sites inside the greenhouse part and just cover the sides of it with carpets during the really cold nights but they still bring it inside for the nights with freeze warnings or extra low temps.

Depending on where you are in Florida it should be fine for the "winter" we get. They do live and thrive here after all.....
If your worried about the 3 days it actually falls below 50 you can move it into a garage for the night, but for the most part you should be alright and it will just go to sleep when the "cold" comes.
It is really better to keep them inside even though having huge cages is easier to obtain outside...but then you have a higher risk of parasites, diseases and infections as well....

I keep mine outside year round in s.w. florida and as stated before unless it gets below about 50 degrees you will be fine. I personally wrap my outdoor cages with plastic sheeting, and supply a ceramic heat emmitter but onlyduring night time as they could easily over heat during the day. Even if its 40 at night it will be around 70 during the day and even though its just plastic sheeting it will retain heat fairly well during daylight hours. (70 outside could easily be 90 inside with no air movement just like a car).......
