Q: Help me sex my beardie

My bearded dragon is around 7 months old now and a little more than 12 inches long.  I have been going back and forth trying to determine whether it is male or female, and have also been getting multiple opinions on the sex.  I can't quite figure out if I'm seeing hemiphoral buldges or not.   Im posting photos - please give me your best guess!

I think the reason we aren't seeing bulges is because there isn't a lot of tension being placed on the tail in the photo.  I was thinking male because of the seminiferous pores present on the legs - those often get crusty with male juices as they get older, and have never seen pores like that on a female.

yeah i would say male, the femoral pores are not nearly as pronounced on a female

Girl based on the nipples on her thighs.  That's where they suckle their young.

I know, right? I'm pretty sure it should be obvious by now... I'll love it the same no matter what :)

I like Brad's answer. It may not be right but I like it......

Except for the pores everything else seems to point towards it being female. It's probably difficult to do this and take a photo at the same time unless you have someone to help you but holding the back down lower you may have to lift the tail a bit more and gently roll your finger down the tail to try and expose any hemipenal bulges, being careful not to bend the tail back to far to avoid damage to the vertabra at the base of the tail. If it's a male you'll be able to see the bulges towards the sides and more of an indentation at the centre where the vent is. The bulge in the middle right now says female but there isn't enough tension to really tell even in your second photo.

its best to hold him flat in your hand and lift his tail upward..for pressure..your probably not gonna be able to take a pic when doing it..but it looks like a boy from the pores.but no bulges so its hard to say...apply alittle pressure...let us know what you see two buldges or a dipple...but my guess is a boy from the pores..you will be able to tell real well alittle later on in his life...

Femoral pores are not a good way to determine sex. My female has very pronounced femoral pores but is, undoubtedly, female.

Wait a few more months and watch for buldges on the base of the tail to develop.

I'm going to say female on this one.

I tried exposing the buldges but either Im doing it wrong or there are none.  The reason i originally thought it was a boy was because Ive seen him do the head nod thing common to males, but I just saw it do the submissive wave too.  Arg!

Females will also display a head bob but not as rapid and aggressive as males. I've also seen females do the arm wave movement right afterward.

my females head bob  they just do it slower..Not as hard as a male or as fast..if your not seeing any buldges then u most likely have a girl..you will beable to tell soon enough

If it is 7 months, and it's a male, then u would see prominent bulging.   Pores r an ok way of telling, but they can vary greatly.
Shes definetly female.
